Gutter Guards
Your gutters are essential for your home’s exterior; they protect your home from water damage. However, sometimes they can get clogged, from common yard debris like leaves and acorns, and then they’re not able to do their job properly. Gutter cleaning can help fix this problem, and it’s a good idea to have your gutters cleaned twice a year to prevent them from clogging and overflowing. At Housetop Roofing, we offer gutter cleaning services. We also install gutter guards.
Gutter guards are a slotted layer, usually made of metal, placed on top of your gutters. They act as a filter to allow rain to flow into your gutters, while keeping out leaves and other yard debris. This means that gutter guards help to greatly reduce your need for gutter cleaning; this also means that your gutters are much less likely to get clogged, and therefore less likely to sag, leak, or overflow.
We offer a number of brands of gutter guards so that you can choose the brand and style of gutter guard that works best for your home. We are happy to answer any questions you might have about gutter guards. Just give us a call at Housetop Roofing in Raleigh, NC and Wake Forest, NC.
Gutter Guard FAQ
How often do I need to clean my gutters if I have gutter guards?
Without gutter guards, you should clean your gutters at least twice a year. However, with gutter guards, you only need to clean your gutters about once every two years (once a year if you live in a heavily wooded area). While gutter guards keep out most yard debris from your gutters, smaller items can still sneak through, which is why you shouldn’t stop your gutter cleaning routine altogether.
Can I add gutter guards to my pre-existing gutters?
Yes, most gutter guards can be easily installed on top of your existing gutters. If you have older gutters, they may not be compatible with gutter guards.
Do gutter guards come in different colors? Materials?
Yes, gutter guards come in numerous colors; you typically choose gutter guards that are the same color as your gutters themselves. Gutter guards are made from a variety of materials. Most are either made from plastic or steel.
How do I remove my gutter guards?
Different styles of gutter guards are installed differently. Some snap onto the top of the gutters, some are screwed in, and some simply sit on top of the gutters. When your gutter guards are being installed, ask to see which style of gutter guard you are getting.
